‘A Tiger in the House’ is a fictional short story by Ruskin Bond. This is the story
of a tiger-cub, Timothy, who was brought to their home by his Grandfather.
In the beginning, when Timothy was a cub, he got along great with the other
two animals in the home. However, as he grew older, he became dangerous.
At this point in time, the Grandfather decided to leave him in a zoo.
Timothy, the tiger-cub, was discovered by Grandfather on a hunting expedition in
the Terai jungle near Dehra. Grandfather was no shikari, but as he knew the forests
of the Siwalik Hills better than most people, he was persuaded to accompany the
party, which consisted of several VIPs (Very Important Persons) from Delhi – to
