              Conjunctions

                Words that join words,  phrases or clauses  are called conjunctions.
                   Types  of  conjunctions

                    1.  Coordinating  conjunctions  : They join  two words, phrases or clauses  and
                        even sentences. These are:  for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so.
                        For example:  It’s  raining  today,  so  we  cannot  play  in  the  park.

                   2.  Correlative conjunctions : These conjunctions are always used in pairs. They
                        join phrases or sentences of similar importance. These are : either-or, neither-
                        nor, not only-but also, both-and,  etc.
                        For example: Either Neha or Divya will win the Champions Trophy this year.
                   3.  Subordinating  conjunctions  : These join  two clauses  so  that one of them
                        is a subordinate clause in a complex sentence. These are:  after, since, if, all
                        though,  because, etc.

                        For example:  I  may  go  to  the  mall  if  it  doesn’t  rain  today.




            J.  Fill  in  the  blanks  with  proper  conjunctions.

                  3.    The runners were  tired __________________  they still  continued to run.
