A simple sentence has one subject and one predicate. It has a single clause.
A compound sentence has at least two subjects and two predicates. It has at least two
independent clauses that are joined by a coordinating conjunction.

A complex sentence has at least two subjects and two predicates. It has one independent
clause and at least one dependent clause that are joined by a subordinating conjunction.

G. Write S for Simple sentences, C for Complex sentences and Co for Compound
sentences.

When a goat ate the leaves, Grandfather reassured Rakesh, saying cherry trees are tough,
indicating their commitment to protecting the tree.
Despite setbacks like the goat and a woman cutting it in two, Grandfather encouraged Rakesh
and reassured him that the tree would recover.
Rakesh observed the tree’s growth, even when it seemed slow, and appreciated its progress.
