              Compound Sentences

              A compound sentence consists  of two independent clauses, joined together  by a
              comma  and a coordinating  conjunctions

              For eg.  Greg was hesitant  to  enter  the  abandoned  building. He knew  it might be
              dangerous.

              Greg was hesitant  to enter the abandoned  building,  as he knew  it might  be
              dangerous.

              1.  Combine  the  following  sentences  to  create  compound  sentences:  (Use
                   FANBOYS)

                  (a)  Greg heard  a noise. He turned  towards  the door.
                  (b)  Lemon  Brown  confronted  the  intruders.  He  defended  his  treasure.

                  (c)  The rain had stopped. Greg decided to leave.
                  (d)  Lemon  Brown  shared  his  treasure’s  story.  Greg  listened  intently.

                  (e)  The men were looking for Lemon Brown’s treasure. They were determined to
                        find  it.

                   (f)  Lemon  Brown  had  a  harmonica.  It  was  battered  and  dented.
                  (g)  Greg wanted to play basketball with the Scorpions. His father didn’t approve.

                  (h)  Lemon Brown showed his treasure to Greg. The clippings were from his past.
                   (i)  The  intruders  wanted  to  find  Lemon  Brown’s  treasure.  They  threatened  him
                        with a pipe.

                   (j)  Greg  listened  to  Lemon  Brown’s  story.  He  gained  a  new  perspective.
