PREFACE
The English Carnival, a series meant for students of Classes I to VIII, is the beautiful outcome of our sincere
efforts to inculcate in young children a love for language and literature. The series is a multi-skill course in
English that adheres to the guidelines laid down by the National Curriculum Framework Foundational Stage.
The series not only focuses in developing abilities for understanding, reading and writing English but also lays
great emphasis on vocational part of English. With English being the only language that opens the doors for
international arena, this book aims at a holistic development of learners.
It provides effective pedagogy techniques with various new sections like Assess yourself, Fun with Grammar,
Sound Well, Spell Well, Listen Well, Write Well, and Fun Time.
Objectives
This comprehensive course aims-
• to develop four basic language skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (LSRW) in a well-structured
manner.
• to equip students to use English for day-to-day communication.
• to develop, nurture and enrich the vocabulary of students.

• to promote cooperative and collaborative learning.
• to engage learners in activities that promote creative thinking and innovation.
• The illustrations of stories, poems, activities and texts have been crafted creatively to develop interest in
learners of English. It will help them to understand all aspects of the language in a comfortable and stress-
free environment.
• A Teacher’s Guide has also been provided at the end of the chapters to make sure the necessary inputs for
Listening Activities in the class.
We hope that language learning with this series will make the learner look forward to his English classes.
