• A sentence that ask questions is called an interrogative sentence. It begins with
a question word such as what ,which ,when, where and why and has a question
mark (?) at the end of the sentence.However some interrogative sentences do
begin with other words like, have you and do you.

for example: Where did the boys find the Treasure map ?
• Do you think the boys started looking for the Treasure?

• A sentence which expresses surprises, wonder, pity, sorrow or a strong or sudden
feeling is called an exclamatory sentence and an exclamatory sentence or word
is followed by an exclamation mark (!).
for example: wow! It is such a huge river.

I. Identify and state the type of sentence in each case.

1. They were inseparable and did everything together. ___________________________

2. Did Ravi and Sameer find the treasure they were searching for? _____________

3. Oops! There was no treasure to be found. _____________________________

4. They did not find gold or jewels. ______________________

5. Ravi found some logs and branches. _________________

A part of speech is any one of the types into which words are divided as per
their grammar. These parts of speech are noun, verb, pronoun, adjective, ad-
verb, preposition, conjunction, and interjection.

J. Identify the parts of speech for the bold words in the following sentences.

1. Ravi and Sameer stumbled upon an old map.

2. They packed some food, water, and a compass.

3. Their eyes gleamed with excitement.

4. They encountered wild animals and treacherous terrain.

5. Ravi came up with a brilliant idea.
